DEUX
Director: Jethro Massey / Choreographer: Lauren Brim
Three couples – heterosexual and homosexual – show the unifying element of love,
the loss of balance in the dynamic of two, and the journey of the individual within relationship.
A film that shows the equality of heterosexual and homosexual relationships, this tribute to love is filmed in Paris both in the dance studio and in three non-studio locations. Each couple's dance is interwoven with elements from their lives. Like a silent film set to music, there is no dialogue, only music and dance, and yet this story told through dance and fiction tells a story more powerfully than words. This ten minute film follows each couple through the joys and sorrows of their relationships, the play of power, the dance of the masculine and feminine, and the emotions of hatred, love, compassion and forgiveness. After the climax of all three couples losing themselves in each other, they stumble back to once again find themselves on a journey of one.
